Regular Meeting
April 16, 2014 8:00 p.m.
PRESENT: Chairman Perry; Members, Mr. Mignogna, Mrs. Byrnes, Ms. Pinckney
ABSENT: Mr. Carr and Ms. Greenwood
21 WILDEY STREET, LLC – 21 WILDEY STREET
Mr. John Meyer, engineer and David Barbuti, architect, reviewed with the Board plans to construct a new 2-story, 12 family multiple dwelling (affordable housing).
Discussion followed. The Board members felt it didn’t conform to the other houses in the neighborhood.
The Board was concerned in particular about the following design items:
- Roof, suggested the possibility of a vegetative roof.
- Entrance configuration and doors; gave appearance of an institution.
- Exterior lighting needs to be shown on the plan.
- Window pattern, again gave appearance of an institution.
- Trim around the windows needs to appear more like a residential building.
The board felt the building needed design details, particularly in light of the rest of the homes in the neighborhood. They felt the design presented was too institutional looking and requested that the applicant take another look at it to see how they could make it more pleasing to the eye and more in keeping with the neighborhood.
